Below is a TED talk from Jeff Hawkins about how brain science will change computing:
In his talk, he discussed how our brains are memory systems and not really information processors. I found his explanation of why we remember things from a physical stance interesting. He explains the memory systems of human brains and the fact the we are intelligent stems from our ability to predict based on our memory. Human memory systems are now being used to create smarter computers.
Hi Leanna,
ReplyDeleteI like this interesting talk, he is a good presenter. I also like his analogy between brain theories and other classical theories, like evolution, plate tectonics, etc. It makes people feel like brain is not that complex and it is understandable. Exploring ourselves is part of our nature. I agree that memory is so important for people, and his example about doors reminded me James's habits. Changing of behaviors is also related to our memory. My understanding is that not only human, but most of other mammals have memories and they can predict or expect what will happen too. My cat likes to sitting in our sofa and waiting for my mother coming home from work and feeding him. So I was wandering what are the further differences of human and other animals brains.
